Faculty and Lecturers

OUR TEAM

A team dedicated to teaching God's truth.

The Seminary has both faculty and lecturers. All have degrees from U.S. evangelical seminaries as well as pastoring experience, the majority are currently pastoring in the U.S. Faculty possess terminal doctorate degrees and lecturers possess a D. Min. Each teaches in their area of speciality.

Lecturers provide instruction in four basic courses used for our Certificate (Diploma) of Pastoral Ministries. Faculty can instruct in all courses including courses leading to our Masters of Arts in Pastoral Ministry.

Derek O. Coleman Jr. Ph.D.

PRESIDENT, BLUEGRASS BAPTIST SEMINARY FACULTY
SYSTEMATIC THEOLOGY

Dr. Coleman has a B.S. Degree from Southern Illinois University, a Master of Divinity from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the Graham School of Missions, Evangelism, and Church Growth at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Dr. Coleman was also a U.S. Navy instructor at the Naval Nuclear Power Training Units in Ballston Spa, NY and Charleston, SC. Dr. Coleman is currently the President of Bluegrass Baptist Seminary and the CEO of Project Reach Brazil. He has ministered in eight different churches as senior pastor or in missions or education ministry positions. He has also served as Adjunct Professor in two seminaries instructing undergraduate and graduate courses in evangelism, missions, and church growth.

Raymond Edge Ph.D.

FACULTY
OLD TESTAMENT

Dr. Edge is Adjunct Professor of Hebrew and Old Testament at Southwest Theological Seminary in Austin Texas and an active researcher of the Dead Sea Scrolls conducting lectures in the U.S. and Brazil. He graduated with a Ph.D. in Middle Eastern Language and Culture-Hebrew Studies from the University of Texas and a Masters of Arts in Biblical Hebrew Language from Criswell College. Dr. Edge also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Old Testament and History of the Nation of Israel from The Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel. Dr. Edge is currently senior pastor at First Baptist Church in Bastrop TX, USA.

Gregory L. Waltermire Ph.D.

FACULTY
CHURCH HISTORY

Dr. Waltemire holds a Ph.D. in Higher Education- Policy Studies and Evaluation from the University of Kentucky, and a Master of Arts from Morehead State University in Adult and Higher Education-Counseling. Dr. Waltermire also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Ministry – Communications from Lexington Baptist College and a Master of Arts in Christian Education-Teaching and Leadership from Southern Baptist Seminary, Louisville, KY, USA. Dr. Waltermire has pastored two churches and currently is at Heritage Baptist Church, Lexington, KY, USA, were he has pastored for 17 years.
